About

We are a British-Finnish couple who hope to bring our passion and enthusiasm for music to the northern Savo area. We have studied all around Europe with renowned teachers and met whilst doing our masters in Bergen, Norway. Having studied and lived for many years in cities, we realised how much we enjoy being in the countryside. We thought that we would take this opportunity to bring our skills as musicians and appreciation for the countryside together to create Musiikkia maseudulla.

We believe that music can enhance your quality of life enormously and we would like to share this with you. Whether it be listening to a live concert or practicing your instrument, we hope you will experience the benefits of music. Apart from providing regular concerts, we offer music lessons for everyone, young and old, beginner and advanced! We hope you'll take the time to look at our website to see what we offer.

Iiris Hare was born and raised in Kuopio and started her musical path in Riistavesi by taking piano lessons locally. From this starting point, she progressed to study at the music high school in Kuopio, take her bachelors at Savonia AMK in music pedagogy whilst also studying for one year in Trieste, Italy. She completed her masters in music performance in Bergen, Norway in 2020. One of her most memorable moments was performing on the Norwegian national television channel NRK as part of the Grieg's 100th year anniversary celebration in 2018. In addition to her studies, Iiris has gained work experience as a teacher at the Kuopio Conservatory and the Bergen Culture School.

Creating an inclusive feeling for her audiences and students is very important for Iiris. She did her masters work on performance settings and on how to make concerts feel more inclusive for both performers and audience. As a teacher, Iiris hopes that her students will enjoy playing and develop their skills from their own starting points and interests.

Finlay Hare was born on the island of Jersey, UK. He studied cello and piano at Chetham’s School of Music, taken his bachelors in music performance at the Royal Northern College of Music and he met Iiris whilst also studying for his masters in Bergen, Norway.

He has thought a lot about the learning process and how to learn in a positive and natural way. This has effected his development very positively and has allowed him to feel more free when performig. His way of teaching which is based on meeting the students desires and needs whilst challenging them to expand their imagination.

Finlay has taught piano and cello on his home island at the Jersey Academy of Music and privately in Bergen. Finlay studies Finnish and is able to teach the basics of playing in Finnish. If a student is interested in learning English while playing, here is a great opportunity for it! He hopes to share his experience with you!
